The Dragon's Claw v.2.5
Copyright 1994, 1995, 1996 by Sean P. Price
To install The Dragon's Claw, create a directory for the game and copy
all of the files from DRAGON25.ZIP to that directory. Change to that
directory and execute INSTALL.BAT. This will extract all of the files
required by The Dragon's Claw into the proper directories.
After completing the above process, read the file SYSOP.DOC for
complete instructions on setting up The Dragon's Claw for your system.
If you are upgrading from a previous version of The Dragon's Claw there
may be changes or additions to The Dragon's Claw configuration files. You
should load GAME.CFG into RUDE_CFG.EXE and make whatever modifications are
needed. You should also read the file WHATS.NEW to see what changes and
additions have been made to The Dragon's Claw.
*** Important! Please read! ***
The Dragon's Claw version 2.4 now uses the IPC Path to store messages
to players on both single and multi-node setups. Make sure that the IPC
Path setting in your configuration file is valid and that the directory
exists on your drive.
The Dragon's Claw version 2.1 uses a different format for the USER.IPC
file than version 2.0. You must delete the USER.IPC file from your IPC
directory.
Starting with version 1.5 the registration scheme has been changed from
a KEY file system to a registration code system. If you are a registered
owner of Rude Dog On-Line Adventure Engine and/or The Dragon's Claw
scenario and are upgrading from a version earlier than 1.5, run the program
KEY_CVT.EXE. It will convert your KEY file(s) to registration code(s) and
update your GAME.CFG file.
The Dragon's Claw version 1.4 uses a different file format for User
Statistics than previous versions. If you are upgrading from a version
earlier than version 1.4, you should backup your USER.STS and USER.SAV
files then run USER_CVT to convert them to the new format.
